I am a photojournalist and digital photo instructor. After years of travel as a photojournalist on assignment for the National Geographic Society and other publishers, I am now working from my home and studio near Aspen, Colorado. I also offer landscape photography field trips and Photoshop instruction.
Recently I have been involved with the Environmental Research Group a local non-profit, on books about the human and natural history of the Roaring Fork Valley. In 2007 we published Aspen’s Rugged Splendor, the story of the Maroon Creek and Castle Creek Valleys, and earlier this year, High Road to Aspen, about Independence Pass, one of the most spectacular mountain passes in North America and route to the settlement of Aspen.
More recently, I’ve contributed images to Freak Power, a book about the journalist Hunter S. Thompson’s 1970 campaign for county sheriff. Several images from my documentation of the election can be seen at the Gonzo Gallery in Aspen.
This website also provides information for viewing and leasing my stock images.
This winter I will often be available for field trips and digital photo instruction in the Aspen area.
